Driver Disclosure & Responsibilities**
Purpose of This Disclosure
This disclosure is intended to inform prospective and approved drivers about the nature of medical courier work performed through GoGoLiberty Medical Courier, the types of deliveries involved, vehicle requirements, and general regulatory expectations. Drivers operate as independent contractors and are responsible for complying with all applicable laws, safety requirements, and company policies.
1. Types of Medical Deliveries
Drivers may be assigned deliveries that include, but are not limited to:

Laboratory specimens (sealed and properly packaged)

Blood products (whole blood, plasma, or blood components)

Medical supplies and equipment
-
Pharmaceuticals and prescription medications
-
Diagnostic samples
-
STAT (time-sensitive) medical courier requests

Organ or tissue shipments (only when legally permitted and properly packaged)
⚠️ Drivers do not handle exposed biological material. All shipments are pre-packaged, sealed, and labeled by the sending medical facility.
2. Packaging & Temperature Control

Medical facilities are responsible for proper packaging, labeling, and temperature control of all medical shipments.

Drivers do not prepare, open, repackage, or alter any shipment.

Shipments requiring temperature control (cold, frozen, or ambient) are provided in:

Insulated containers
-
Coolers
-
Temperature-controlled medical packaging
-

Ice packs, dry ice, or gel packs are supplied by the facility when required.

Drivers must not add or remove ice packs unless specifically instructed by the facility in writing.
Typical temperature ranges (for awareness only):

Refrigerated: 2°C – 8°C (36°F – 46°F)

Frozen: below −20°C (−4°F)
-
Ambient: 15°C – 25°C (59°F – 77°F)
Drivers are not responsible for monitoring or verifying medical temperatures, only for timely and secure transport.
3. Organ, Blood & Specimen Transport Policy
Organ & Tissue Transport

Organ and tissue transport assignments are rare, controlled, and facility-directed.

All organs or tissues are:

Sealed

Properly packaged
-
Labeled
-
Accompanied by required documentation

Drivers must never open or inspect organ containers.

Drivers must transport directly from pickup to destination unless otherwise instructed.
Blood & Specimens

Blood and specimen shipments are regulated under:

HIPAA (privacy protection)

DOT and carrier safety guidance

Drivers are not exposed to biological material.

If a package appears damaged or leaking:

4. Acceptable Vehicles
Drivers may operate the following non-commercial vehicles, depending on assignment:

Small box trucks (non-CDL, non-18-wheeler)
Vehicle Requirements:

Clean interior

Ability to secure packages during transit

Climate control (air conditioning / heat)
🚫 18-wheelers, tractor-trailers, and CDL-required vehicles are NOT used.
5. Driver Responsibilities
Drivers agree to:

Follow direct routing (no unauthorized stops)

Maintain chain-of-custody integrity
-
Protect patient confidentiality
-
Handle packages carefully and securely
-
Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations

Use provided proof-of-delivery procedures when required
-
Communicate delays or incidents immediately to dispatch
Drivers must not:

Open packages
-
Inspect contents
-
Modify packaging
-
Transport unauthorized passengers with medical shipments

Store shipments overnight unless instructed
6. Legal & Regulatory Awareness
Drivers are expected to operate in compliance with:

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)

OSHA safety awareness standards
-
Local and state transportation laws
-
Facility-specific delivery protocols
GoGoLiberty Medical Courier does not provide medical training. Drivers are not medical professionals and are not expected to perform medical functions.
7. Independent Contractor Status
Drivers operate as independent contractors, not employees. Drivers are responsible for:

Their own insurance (as required, add a business endorsement and rideshare endorsement to your current insurance, depend on what your position is)

Vehicle maintenance
-
Taxes and reporting
-
Compliance with laws applicable to independent contractors
8. Acknowledgment
By applying to drive with GoGoLiberty Medical Courier, drivers acknowledge that they have read, understand, and agree to comply with this disclosure and all applicable policies.
